Randomness

Editor's Note

Some random things from this week:

  • I hate when my eggs look weird enough to actually make me realize where they come from.
  • Developing new routines (keeping the house cleaner and involving the whole family) is hard.
  • Developing new routines (going to bed before midnight!) is hard.
  • I did enough laundry that I made it down to the bottom of the hamper and discovered clothes from Spring (wow!).
  • Getting in touch with friends I haven't talked with in years can be very rewarding.
  • My daughter is no longer wearing her palatte expander (yippee!) and is working on learning how to pronounce her words correctly without it.
  • Potty training regression is hard!

I hope every one of you are off to a grand start to the New Year. As noted above, I do have some resolutions I am trying to establish. One is getting more help from my children around the house.

Luckily for me, they are willing and it has been my inability to communicate to them what they can do to help that has been the biggest hurdle to overcome. With some preparation on my part, clearly stated expectations, a list, and supervision, we are off to a great start.

Marting Luther King Jr. Day is next Monday and the kids will be off of school on Monday, the 16th. Luckily, our local resources have special programs specifically to help your child or teen get the most out of their extra day off. Check the calendar for ideas!

There are some wonderful events this weekend. The calendar is packed with over 30 different activities to enjoy family time with your kids! Make sure to note the free concerts this weekend.

Here are the quick links to the weekend's calendar of events:

Check back often for updates and don't forget Facebook, where new items are often posted.

Family Fun Jar

Last week we took our daughter to see the Laurie Berkner Band and we were inspired by the song “FAMILY.” It made us think how we as a family interact, how we work together, how we play together, how we connect as a family, how we spend time together as a family.

Often our family wakes on a Saturday wondering “what do we do today?” Do we hop in the car with no destination in site? Do we go to a local park? Do we sit at home and do ...
