Half-Way Through Winter

Editor's Note

- There's no snow on the horizon except for some possible flurries Saturday night, but today and tomorrow are looking wet. Saturday seems like the day to get out this weekend. You can find lots of man-made white stuff at our local skiing and snowboarding locations.

- I'm still on the hunt for great sledding around here. I have a few suggestions, but I know you have more! Send them to [email protected]

- Giveaways: Current giveaways include Monster Jam at the XL Center in Hartford (ending tonight! Enter now!), tickets to the Winter Wonderland Ball at Stepping Stones in Norwalk, and the amazing Harlem Globetrotters in Hartford at the XL Center.

Brown Tufts Montessori School in Woodbury is hosting an open house this Sunday. Stop by and see what they have to offer your little loved one. I love Montessori education and chose it for my children.

- For some crafting and fun decorating for Valentine's Day, try making this mosaic heart--a craft good for crafty teens and little ones. With Valentine's Day coming up, consider this treat mix as a special snack.

- You probably know other moms who would love to hear about the great things going on for kids and families in our area. Forward our newsletter to them. There is even a handy button at the top of the right-hand column, or on the bottom, if you read that far.

- Best bets for the weekend include:
