Editor's Note

- I am quite fond of the Macaroni Kid spring logo, can you tell? This is my third week using it for this editor's note. Perhaps I should be using the summer logo considering that the temperature is going to be 80 today!

It looks like the weekend will have more reasonable weather for March with temperatures in the 60s on Saturdays and 50s on Sunday. There may be a slight chance of rain on Sunday. It will be great weather to make this furry caterpillar gardening craft! The nicer weather is also a great time to get every mother's most important "to do" taken care of. Wondering how to go about potty training? Here is an article written by a Macaroni Publisher who also works with patty training kids in a day care. It is rather lovely to no longer buy diapers. I don't think I will ever give up wipes, though.

- Welcome to our new subscribers from the Flanders Nature Center Festival. My husband enjoyed the day but I think we know that next time he will need to bring the tent. He wasn't badly sunburned but he could feel it. And now I have three cute bottles of Flanders' freshly made maple syrup.

- Exciting news! Fun Factor of Middlebury has become a sponsor of Macaroni Kid. Read about Fun Factor's unique and enjoyable summer camp options in Middlebury, CT just off I84. Tell them you found them on Macaroni Kid!

- I still have the St. Patrick's Day parade article up because there are three parades this weekend. If you never get enough of bag pipes and Irish Pride, this will be the only weekend to stretch out the holiday.

- Easter seems to be just around the corner. The first events for celebrating Easter and meeting the Easter Bunny are happening this weekend. Check out this article for 2012 Easter Egg Hunts, Bunny Breakfasts, Easter activities, and all around fun. And learn and celebrate Passover with this free movie event at the Beth El Synagogue in Southbury.

- Congratulations to Ann M. for winning the Sundae Spa $20 gift certificate. And more congratulations to Brenda S., Sarah M., Linda H., Kasey S., and Kristen C. for winning tickets to Piccadilly Circus in Danbury!

- Didn't win? Try, try again! Check out our giveaway for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus coming to the XL Center in Hartford May 10th through 13th. We even have a discount code.

- Would you like to have a raucous evening with your girlfriends or a touching and hilarious night with your mother? Then check out Menopause the Musical at the Palace Theater. It is a women's night out sensation. Want more sensation than you might be able to handle? Then make sure you take advantage of the photo opportunity with the Waterbury Firefighter Calendar men. Make sure you have your calendar purchased for signatures and for fanning yourself. The proceeds from the photo op and calendar help child burn victims.

- The votes are in! The top five Macaroni Mom picks for favorite places to have a birthday party are...here!

- Check this weekend's calendar of events, where there are many, many more kid friendly activities and events to do.

The Favorite Birthday Party Locations

One thing I learned from this poll is how many great places we have for birthday partiies. In the end, there were over 30 different birthday party venues. There are even more that didn't make it onto the list.

After adding the votes from both polls, Facebook and Survey Monkey, our early leaders had staying power. New Macaroni Moms can take a look at the list and find some area favorites right away. Communities of moms are so valuable and I thank each of you for helping with the ...

Potty Training Made Easy!

Is your little one ready to begin this process?

As a mom of four and a child care provider for the past 15 years, I have had lots of opportunities in potty training. I wrote this article to help out other moms who were beginning this phase of their child's young life and wanted to share it with you guys as well.

From experience, this method works well - but with all methods, they really won't work at all if your child isn't ready. So please keep that in mind as you approach potty training with your ...

Kid Craft: Garden Creepy Crawlies

  • Yarn
  • 6-8 Pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
