Caroline’s Enchanted Garden Fairy & Wizard Festival at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden Saturday, May 5, 1-4 pm.
Take a break from reality and enter the realm of magic, for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on craft activities, pony rides, music, story telling, magic and more. Build your own fairy house to bring home, or leave it along a rustic, woodland path, inspired by renowned garden writer, Betsy Williams, who will present Are there Fairies at the Bottom of your Garden?: Plants, Stories and the Lives of the Wee Folk talk and fairy plant walk. Families are invited to use bark, leaves, twigs and other natural materials to create a charming little home that any fairy would be pleased to move into.
Activities include strolling fairy musicians, story teller and puppeteer Sue Meister, and a scavenger hunt. Come in costume, and kids of all ages are invited to make fairy wands and wizard hats. Cyril the Sorcerer will tell tales while performing tricks around the Bellamy-Ferriday grounds, and give a Recycling is Magic show. The day will conclude with a fairy and wizard parade around the Bellamy-Ferriday grounds.
Snacks and beverages will be available for sale, and Joan Coogan of Watertown’s Pony Tales will bring two costumed ponies for pony rides, courtesy of Soroptimist of Greater Waterbury. Event sponsored in part by the Connecticut Community Foundation and Thomaston Savings Bank. Members: $5 adults; $3 children; $10 families; Members-to be: $8 adults; $5 children; $20 families.
