Making Dreams Happen this Spring

By Meredith Hettler January 14, 2018

As winter comes to a close and we move full steam ahead towards spring, it's a good time to check in with any mental, physical or spiritual spring cleaning that you have in mind for the warmer months.

In order to stay focused and achieve my dreams this spring and beyond I've come up with a few ways to keep myself inspired and maintain motivation/confidence that I can meet the goals I've set out for myself.  With that being said, here are a few tips I've put in place.

1.  Start a positivity journal:  It's easy to focus on the bad things, the problems, the stress.  It's hard to remember what you are doing right, what makes you happy and all of the great things you are accomplishing.  This year.  I am keeping a journal of just the good stuff!  A journal that reminds me of all the wonderful accomplishments, the laughs and the wins.  My intent is that it will serve as a reminder for when the going gets tough and I need a little pick me up.

2.  Stay organized:  I'm not always the best at being organized but if I want to make stuff happen, I need to hold myself accountable and have a plan.  I've invested in a calendar, organized my office and established some short terms goals that keep my on my path to achieving the long term ones.

3.  Share your goals!  Make them real.  Typically, I don't talk much about my goals to others.  Part of the reason was because I didn't want others to think less of me if I didn't achieve them.  This time around, I'm proud to share my hopes and dreams and will take true pride in the process of trying to achieve them rather than the end result.

4. Make it fun:  I've always put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve goals, and again, often miss out on the process because I focus too much on the end result.  This year, I'm going to take the time and have fun on this journey.  I'm going to laugh along the way, share my ups and downs and appreciate what I've learned and who I've met.

To kick off the spring season with some fun, positivity and friendship, Macaroni Kid Southbury is partnering with Ready to Exhale to bring you a mom's night out Soul Collage workshop on March 17th!  Join us for a small intimate evening where attendees will have the opportunity to discover their goals, hopes and dreams through the visual work of collage making.  If you are interested in learning more please check out Ready to Exhale's registration information for further detail.  We hope to see you there!
