Out on the Town

The Maritime Aquarium

  • Santa is diving with the sharks at 11:45 and 1:45 on December 27th through the 30th.
  • Each day from the 26th of December through the 1st of January, you can enjoy some time with a Diamon Back Terrapin turtle.
  • "Happy Feet Two" will be on IMAX starting on December 26th through January 1st.
  • "Polar Express" will still be at the IMAX through December 31st.
  • Also showing "Born to be Wild" and "Coral Reef Adventure"

Stepping Stones Museum

  • It's England at Stepping Stones this week with a different activity based on the UK each day from the 26th through the 30th.

New England Air Museum

  • LEGO Contest on Monday
  • Open cockpit on Tuesday
  • Designing paper airplanes on Wednesday
  • Make you own aero model Thursday
  • Egg-drop challenge on Friday

CT Science Center

  • Extended hours
  • Daily Exploration camps--sign up for a day or for the whole week

Old Sturbridge Village

  • December School Vacation Week, 12/26 to 1/1, 9:30 am to 4 pm, see special performances and take part in hands-on activities like candle making, shadow puppets, make a toy, clay pot, and much more ($5 to $10 additional per activity)
  • December Discovery Adventures 12/28-12/29, 9:00 am to 3 pm, register on-line and participate in a cooking class, 19th century decorative arts and crafts, and tour the decorated village. Additional fee.
  • Families Cook $85 per person to cook 19th century recipes next to the hearth.
  • New Year's Day at Old Sturbridge Village--it's open! Enjoy a brunch at the tavern.

Edmond Town Hall Movie

  • A Dolphin Tale: show times 1, 4, 7, and 9 (ish) Monday, the 26th, through Friday, and 1 and 4 on Saturday.

Mystic Aquarium

  • Winter Waterland with Santa and his elf swimming with the fish, storytellers, magic and crafts daily all week long from the 26th through the 1st.

Mystic Seaport

  • Christmas by the Sea with historic Christmas sailing tales, candle dipping at the Buckinham house, historic games, and magic shows.

Winterfest in Bushnell Park, Hartford

  • Holiday lights, an ice rink set up with free skating and free skate rental, free ice skating shows on Friday (maybe Saturday)
