Snow Fun! Winter Weather Family Outings

Skiing, Snowboard, Tubing for Families in Southern Litchfield, Northern New Haven Counties

By Kim McNeill September 22, 2011

If you have ever wondered what all of those skiers snowboarders are excited about, Connecticut has nearby places to find out for yourself. Each area has beginner's packages which include rental equipment, a lesson, lift ticket, and beginner slopes you can practice on.

Skiing and snowboarding are for kids 5 and above, at least. It is a perfect activity for the 8+ crowd. Lift tickets can be bought by the season and equipment can be rented for an entire season if you have discovered a family passion.

While Connecticut is in New England, albeit lower New England, and going down snowy slopes is part of our heritage. If you are an experienced skier or snowboarder, which is your favorite if you ski in Connecticut? If you are new and try it or have tried it for the first time recently, I would love to hear about your experience. I am not a skier but would love for my kids to learn a fun, active way to keep busy and fit in the winter months.

Macaroni Kid is your resource for things to do with kids and teens! Keep up with great local happenings by subscribing to our weekly newsletter of events for kids and teens. The calendar is full of nearby activities for families, kids, and teens.
